The world is based on a foundation which is actually much more complex than it appears. The exchange system, free market, globalization etc being the numerous factors holding the whole system in place. With my field of knowledge being limited to science, the effect of a simple speech on the market seems absurd. But, gradually clarity of thought takes place as its effects start affecting us profoundly. It is easy to comment with an air of superiority but I believe only an honest can put my opinions in perspective. Having been flooded with the words “recession proof” when it comes to India, the current state is perplexing. With inflation touching the roof, and the economic growth slowing down, maybe it’s time to expand our restricted views. Maybe the unemployment situation isn’t as grave as in the rest of the world but the income and expenditure is also as significant as having a job. All efforts are futile if a person can earn but is still not able to afford a square meal a day. Security is there but no guarantee of betterment of the present. When the very people who feed the nation are driven to suicide, there indeed must be some flaw in our policy. Tonnes of grains rot in the sun, yet the poor are left starving. Ironical. Monopoly is causing deep harm. I am not qualified enough to suggest a change of policies but even I can see the urgent need for sincere efforts. Comments by politicians like “I don’t have a magic wand…” are sickening. Obviously, we know you can’t turn the tide but at least can brainstorm and work devotedly to improve the situation….for God’s sake you are paid to do that. It is disturbing to see corruption swallow up everything. The amount of money laundered and unlawfully kept every year is more than the GDP of some of the smaller nations. We don’t expect the powerful to give up their privileges, or lower their incomes but pouncing on money illegally is unpardonable. If they tried half as much as the times they increased their incomes, a solution would have been in place.Attending a session is difficult for them but not touring to foreign countries on taxpayer’s money. The economy is in serious trouble and unless the system of ingrained sycophancy ends, the economy will crumble. Tail the rich if you want, but don’t forget the poor. The policy of working for general welfare only once every five years needs to go. Empty declarations don’t do justice, actions do. Just a thought for the people for whom everyday is a struggle, who has to fight for basic amenities everyday, who disappear into oblivion with unfulfilled wishes, think about them and think what can be done. Some might think what has the economy got to do with the common man…but all this is entwined and like a domino, a fall is all that it would take to put into motion a chain of destruction. And the biggest loser of it all would be…….us.

Having a brain that works overtime, is not a boon, unlike what many would like to think. Random thoughts thrust into view from every nook and corner occupy most of the time of this efficient, but unreliable piece of machine. Sometimes, I wish there was a power switch that could restrict its actions to your mercy. Who would like to dwell on the sad events of the day , when all your body begs for is a good night’s sleep? Funny, isn’t it? With a ton of capacity that retrieves all that is trivial in seconds, sitting idle becomes torturous. Sometimes, it sticks a record into replay, so that I can relive those epic moments of embarrassment again and again. It deserves applause with its ability to filter out all that may be remotely related to bookish knowledge. That ain’t important.

But that was then, so let’s skip forward to the present. Years of introspection has increased my understanding of the human psyche. Only a quick glance is enough to discern between an hypocritical and genuine smile. Not that it has made me much happier, but it has at least released the burden of expectations on those around, without their knowledge. It has also spared me the sorrow of a broken heart, as well as made me less dependent. Lack of need of an apology doesn’t imply that I don’t get hurt, but now the recovery is quick. Curiosity always gets the better of me, so I have the need to know the reason, but that’s it….only curious. Is it easy now, no…because for every person I understand, there are 3 more that confuse me with their behavior. Life is like a game of cards, but the players are real. Lesson learnt by experience. Only this mind is the constant companion, which holds the ability to draw curtains on the truth. Tune in to it, cleanse your vision and behold the simple answers to daily incidents. Believe me, the heart can easily mislead. As I have learnt, the mind always scores over the heart when it comes to making right decisions, especially, when it comes to people. My hard-working brain always points to what is hidden to my sight and this translates to greater peace.

There people who are awesome friends, then there are the fake ones and there are some who stand in the middle. You can find them, just gotta build a deeper understanding like me!!
